Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens' re-election bid just took a big hit:
CNN is reporting that Stevens has been found guilty on all seven counts of making false statements on his financial disclosure forms.

Stevens faces up to five years in prison on each count but, under federal sentencing guidelines, will likely receive much less prison time, if any.

Duh. But getting him out of the Senate will be reward enough for me. That said, he'll be sentenced six days after Obama is inaugurated. (Yes, I'm having a feel-good day. I'll likely be paranoid again tomorrow.)

TPM's Kate Klonick:
It's really worth taking a moment to reflect on how historic this decision is.

Sen. Stevens is a sitting senator, one of only five in all of history to be convicted of a crime, and the first since 1981, the Wall Street Journal notes.

My earlier thoughts on Stevens can be found here. Any chance the Keating 5 bit gets another run?
