Refusing to be painted with broad strokes, Barack Obama's campaign launched FightTheSmears.com, a site dedicated to debunking false rumors and innuendo about the candidate - particularly that of the "He's a Muslim", "his wife hates Whitey", etc. variety.

Hope it gets as viral as the bullshit being spread about him. I must've read three or four times today some troll whining about his birth certificate. Well, here it is.

The question is, will it be effective? Time will tell, but it's plain already that Obama is a new kind of Democrat. (Meaning one that won't simply turn the other cheek when attacked.)
